Take a closer look at your junk mail.

The reason companies send out mailings is because they are looking to grow their businesses.

I will call back the local company, like lawn maintenance, painters, plumbers, office furniture suppliers etc.

The conversation should go something like this:

"Hi, I just got your flyer in the post. I thought it looked very professional, you are obviously looking to grow your business. On Friday mornings, I meet with a group of business professionals who could refer business to you. Are you free on Friday morning at 7:00AM?"

This approach also works when companies cold call you by phone, I have invited people to my BNI Chapter when they have called me.

You Get What You Ask For!

Have you heard people complaining that they get poor quality leads from networking meetings? I certainly have and have complained myself.

I am a web designer that prefers to deal with Business to Business sites for companies from 5 employees upwards, yet I often get referrals for consumer sites for one person companies.

Whose fault is that? It’s not the fault of people trying to refer business to you, it’s down to you to tell people you network with what you want and what you don’t want in precise detail. How else can anyone find you the type of business that you really want?

The truth is, you do get what you ask for, so ask for the right things.
